Hello VolleyballNH Groupies!

I think it would be great if everyone would get out and support their local high schools!  Here are some important links that will help you find a local match and follow the current standings.  NH high school volleyball has 3 divisions with 59 schools participating.  As many of you know, I am coaching at Exeter this year and information about our program can be found on this website.  Below you will find sites for information about all schools.

I would like to encourage everyone to support UNH Volleyball this year.  In Particular, the “Pack the Arena” match is  Saturday, September 10th at 7:00 p.m. against UCONN.

We’re really hoping to break the 2485 attendance record!!!  If that’s not enough incentive, Pack the Arena Day marks the first time we will see our home town hero; Last year’s Division II Player of the Year, Bri Datti, in a UConn uniform.

Juarez, Mexico: The USA National Team earned a Bronze Medal in a match against Cuba.  Powerhouse Brazil will battle the Dominican Republic for the Gold Medal.  This marks the second year in a row the Dominican Republic has knocked the US out in the Semi-Final round.  With their Semi-Final appearance, however, the US Women secure a spot in the 2012 FIVB World Grand Prix.

Though finishing with a victory at the FIVB World League, the US Men could only manage a 3rd place finish in their pool.  The US did not advance to the Semi-Final round and will next compete at the NORCECA Championship which is a qualifier for the FIVB World Cup in November.   The World Cup is the first opportunity for the Men’s team to Qualify for London 2012.  Go USA!

USA Beach

In the 2011 FIVB Swatch World Tour,  Phil Dalhausser and Todd Rogers return to the podium earning a silver medal at the “1 to 1 Energy Grand Slam”  in Gstaad, Switzerland.   The Women’s first round begins on Wednesday.

Hello to all new and prospective VolleyballNH.com Community Members!

The transition to new, faster and more reliable servers is complete! We hope you will enjoy the new speed while browsing and interacting with fellow VolleyballNH Members.     Also,  while I don’t think this is a major issue,  I have eliminated the Forums option within Groups.  If you don’t miss the forums or are asking yourself, “what the heck is he talking about ?” than I probably did the right thing…. If you are saying to yourself “that’s a mistake” ; email me and we can talk about how to best utilize the forums.

Enjoy the site.   More members are signing on which means (hopefully) we will see more sharing of information, stories and news about volleyball in the  6-oh-3!

US Men in Belo Horizonte, Brazil

The US Men’s National team traded blows with Brazil in front of a Brazilian crowd of over 16,000 fans.  That’s right folks, in Brazil, they come out to watch volleyball!  Brazil had been undefeated until the US was able to knock them off in 4 sets on June 12th.  The set  scores were: 25-21, 25-22, 16-25, 26-24.  It was a nice comeback after having lost to Brazil the day before in the same venue.  The Men head home to the Sears Centere for back to back matches with Poland.

US Women in Montreux, Switzerland

The women’s National team advanced to the bronze medal match against China.  Ironically it was a repeat of last year’s gold medal match.  China defeated the US to take the bronze medal by set scores of:  16-25, 25-13, 29-27, 25-23.  The Finals were also played on June 12th seeing Japan down Cuba by set scores of: 26-24, 25-18, 25-19 to take the Gold Medal.

US Beach in Rome, Italy

In a unique venue (the middle of a city on man-made courts), the US will compete in the eighth Beach World Championship  on June 13-19.  Of particular note is the return of Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh who plan to compete for another Gold Medal in London, 2012 .

US Women’s Sitting Volleyball in Shanghai, China

The US Women’s Sitting Volleyball team finishes up their run in Shanghai with a win over the Shanghai club team, 20-25, 25-22, 25-23, 25-23.   Head Coach Bill Hamiter is also looking towards London, 2012 where the both the men and women will defend their respective medal performances from Beijing.
